The Death Penalty Empty The Death Penalty

Post by Spishnittlestick Fri Jul 18, 2008 5:59 am

Is it moral or humane? Or is it beyond justification for a modern society?

What do you think?

I don't think that it's moral, or humane, but I do think that it's necessary, to make an example of what will happen to you if you commit certain crimes. As opposed to life in prison, which is basically "Oh no, I'll have food and clothes until I die of a natural cause!" ......

The Death Penalty Empty Re: The Death Penalty

Post by Cjanz Fri Jul 18, 2008 3:21 pm

The death penalty, although effective in ridding our communities of criminals, is not punishment. Death is not punishment, because death is liberation (depending on how you think of it, I suppose).

In my opinion, severe crimes should be followed by severe punishment, most of which would be too cruel, or inhumane. The death penalty exists for that reason, because it is done with virtually no pain involved, and once they're gone the problem is gone, or so to speak.

If they want to stop criminals committing all these horrible crimes, shouldn't the punishment be something the person has to live with rather than be freed from by dying?

Well in theory you're right. But can you imagine what most people would be feeling while on death row? for a couple years.. "I'm here to die" and getting strapped down.. Most people do not want to die, this goes for criminals as well.
So its not really the death that is punishment, its the time right up to it.

IRON MADEN!!!!!
Or....Ugh, I forgot what it was, it was some kind of a metal mask that used to be used to torture women for lieing or whatever.
There's also a thing that's like a square pole that someone has to sit on while it rotates. Hell, watch "Surviving History" on the history channel Sunday nights.

Guilty as charged
But damn it, it aint right
There is someone else controlling me

Death in the air
Strapped in the electric chair
This cant be happening to me

Who made you God to say
Ill take your life from you!

Flash before my eyes
Now its time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames

Wait for the sign
To flick the switch of death
Its the beginning of the end

Sweat, chilling cold
As I watch death unfold
Consciousness my only friend

My fingers grip with fear
What I am doing here?

Someone help me
Oh please God help me
They are trying to take it all away
I dont want to die

Time moving slowly
The minutes seem like hours
The final curtain call I see

How true is this?
Just get it over with
If this is true, just let it be

Wakened by the horrid cream
Freed from the frightening dream

-Ride The Lightning Smile

yeah when did he target me anyway I think that the death penalty is alright if someone has murdered someone or raped them. but that's my opinion, but what's on my mind is I wish that if you're on death row that u can at least decide how u die. I would choose to die from a rifle. Quick and easy and another plus...no pain. Oh and I find out where fuzzy targeted me.

That was a big thing for me too...can you imagine what it would be like to be put to death for something that you didn't even do?

It depends on the solidity of the evidence, but even then...mistakes happen, and that's not good.

Only if their crime was truly heinous!! (Torturing while raping, then slitting the throat, ****ing that, and watching the chick {ok usually a chick.. wtf? lmao} die = medieval torture tactics) [ask the catholics! I think they perfected that back in the inquisitions!!)

But besides that... maybe just the electric chair..

If it is somewhere in the middle... hmm electric chair WITHOUT WET SPONGE!! {like off the green mile?}
