Micheal Jackson's death
Is anyone else incredibly irritated by the ongoing media sensation that is, MJ's death? Now, I know full well we have a vicious and unforgiving popular media system, but are the so relentless as to inspect and redress every single movement of this legends life? can't they just let the family be? and then continue to cover legalities of his death including the exploitation of his children and the custody battle over them. I understand and appreciate the memorials and dedications by broadcasting stations re-living his music, but that's as far as I believe it should go.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
Personally I'm a little sickened with how so many people are suddenly fans of his music and his legacy. His record sales have soared since his death, partly in memory of him, and partly because everyone wants to seem like they were always huge fans.
Re: Micheal Jackson's death
oh, very much agreed! I'll willingly admit I've never and will never own an MJ cd, and I have like 3 songs on my MP3. People, I guess, feel left out if they don't put on the facade of being a huge fan. ha, I wonder what happened to OxyClean sales after Billy Mays' death?

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
They most likely plummeted due to the absence of such a legend to shill such a fine product.
But really, it does irritate me too to see how everybody's such a fan of Michael all of a sudden. I can honestly say I've been a huge fan since I was kid. Call me gay or whatever, but I do have a huge respect for the man and his accomplishments. I admit that I've laughed at quite a few of the jokes at his expense, but who hasn't? The man is arguably the most influential pop culture icon since Elvis. And I do think he deserves all the positive media coverage he's gotten, but it is starting to get old. It does sicken me that even after his death people are still out to get this guy. With accusations now that he was gay and would dress like a woman and go to seedy Vegas motels to have sex with men because he was so broke he couldn't afford anything more. Look, I wouldn't be surprised if he was gay, but at least try to make a somewhat believable story to back up your claims. I was watching Entertainment Tonight a day or two ago and their only source on this information was some guy who basically said "Yup, it happened. I heard about it from somebody who knew him". I mean, come on. Like he said, just leave him alone. The guy is gone now. Let him rest. And if not for his sake, for his kids.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
The media coverage of Jackson is just one of the examples of how sick and starved the media is for a target. Even in death the press can never let him be.

MJ, was a great dancer, singer, and person. I will always remember his music. I will also say, im angry at the media for making up so many lies. (my opinion).

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
I find it sad how nobody ever bothered
to bring him flowers when he was alive.
What good does it do now, that he is dead?
Or how he had to die for people to finally
really here his stuff on the radio.
It's not until one dies
that we see the lies.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
Good ol' American media always does its best to destroy the image of a legacy.
Re: Micheal Jackson's death
That's what I hate about 24 hour news station. Their's never enough new to fill out the day so they have to drive everything into the ground.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
Channels like HLN and CNN are okay at times, but other times I cannot stand watching them.
I especially get tired of Nancy Grace who will cover the same story for about a year...Gah, that gets old.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
MJ was an important figure for a lot of people....but he does not represent AMERICA or the WORLD. That's the problem. The media is prioritising over this way too much, simply because that's what the average medicore person wants to hear about.

As far as news goes, I either watch ONN or nothing at all.
I prefer word-of-mouth over media BS.
Re: Micheal Jackson's death
Word of mouth is the most propoganda form of news over everything.
Why? Everyone has an opinion and will apply it to whatever they state about a particular event, perhaps guiding the way you perceive it.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
personally, I get most of my news from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert! Stephen does have a little bias but he doesn't disguise the truth.

Re: Micheal Jackson's death
I feel as though it's odd that so many people lamented his death after all of the allegations pointing towards him. It was like people were so quick to jump from one spectrum to the other.
