First topic message reminder :

After joining Peta2 to help stop events such as the Alaskan Seal Hunt and Dog Fighting (and trying to win free stuff, lolz), I have been in some very heated discussion because I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. These guys are brutal when it comes to defending their lifestyles and policies. I highly dislike being force-fed what they claim is right, and I've backed up my side with biological proof and evidence (the particular post in which I invested the most time can be found HERE And I'm the user Spishnittlestick. What do you guys think? Do we have any Vegans/Vegetarians here? Or any views towards eating meat products?

I am a poor excuse of a meat eater...seriously.
I always feel terrible when I eat meat...I mean I know it is nature...but I just think about how those animals are actually killed. And more times than not, they are not slaughtered in a painless way.

I have seriously thought about going vegetarian...I am just too weak

haha, no worries, I get that way too, surprisingly.

I refuse to eat hot dogs for sure.

And when I start playing "Let's Guess How This Animal Died" in my head, I become less and less interested.

I thought about going Veg for a little bit too, but meh. Veggie Burgers are gross.

Nice that I'm not entirely alone here, haha.

It depends on the steak. I'll usually eat sirloin and boneless rib-eye without complaint.....unless it's burnt or dry.

I don't see any reason not to eat meat, as far as I'm concerned, it's the best way to get protein. I will soon be buying a bow, and I look forward to hunting. I have always eaten meat. We go to the butcher at least once a month, It's one of my favorite places to go. Above all else. I live in Kansas. If I didn't eat beef, the only other thing that we have a good supply of around here is wheat, but I find it funny that combine the two, and what do you have? a sandwich!

Eh....I just can't stand the thought of eating an animal. It's almost cannibalism but just a different species... Think about it, you kill animals and eat them. What if they did the same? We're animals, too. I'd rather not permanently separate a cow or a deer or whatever from its family. They have families and lives, too. They can feel and love, too.

How would you like it if a larger animal came out of nowhere and killed you or one of your family? I'd be pretty ticked off and want revenge. So when all those deer and cows and all those that you took a loved one from finish their plan and seek revenge, I'm not going to be by your side. I'll be right there with them.

You're right we are animals. OTHER animals kill to eat as well. We're not the only ones.

I'm not saying that how we kill is right. I'm saying that killing for food is a natural instinct for all animals. Even humans...

I'm not trying to start a religious debate, but according to my faith, people aren't just animals. We have souls, which animals don't. We were created in the image of God, and animals weren't. I personally think that humans are above animals. Humans have the ability to reason, and animals just go off of instinct. I don't know of an animal that has the instinct to use a compound bow, so I think I'm safe.

Animals have leaders. The head of the wolf pack, the alpha wolf. There has to be some thought process involved. It isn't a language as we know it, but they must have some form of communication.

I somewhat agree to the human statement. I don't agree that humans are equal to animals.

I believe that humans are BELOW animals. Seriously...What kind of animal kills other species FOR FUN? What kind of animals TORTURE other species of animals? What kind of animals f*cks another dead animal?!?!

"Why is it; when it's a human, it's abortion- but when it's a chicken, it's an omelet?[i][b]Since when did we pass chickens in goodness? Name 6 ways we're better than chickens...See? Ah, you don't see a chicken strapping some guy to a chair and hooking his nuts up to a car battery, now do ya? What's the last chicken you heard of that come home and beat the shit out of his hand? 6 reasons? here we go

1. Humans can type without using the "hunt and peck" method. (nice pun eh?)
2. Humans don't depend on others for their food, they can grow and hunt their own.
3. Humans are obviously smarter, as I don't see chickens creating civilizations.
4. Humans have thumbs.
5. I've never heard chickens make music.
6. Chickens can't post on The Gathering.

I'm not trying to bash any views, simply express my own.
