School Work in Summer? Empty School Work in Summer?

Post by tbguitarist Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:35 am

from here on out I will be using caps lock to express my agner, sorry. WHY THE FRICK DO WE HAVE TO DO A BOOK REPORT DURING THE SUMMER? SCHOOL STRESSES US OUT ENOUGH ALREADY. SUMMER IS SUPPOSED TO BE A TIME TO RELAX. WHY WOULD YOU GIVE US SOMETHING STRESSFUL AND SCHOOL RELATED TO DO DURING THE TIME WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELAXING AND TAKING A BREAK FROM SCHOOL? I UNDERSTAND MAYBE I SLACKED OFF A BIT, BUT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE THE REPORT DUE IN THE FIRST PLACE, IT WOULDN'T MATTER.

School Work in Summer? Empty Re: School Work in Summer?

lol, DON'T WORRY

I just finished (more or less) my 3-page essay on Zinn's Vietnam Theory, lol. That wasn't as bad as what I had before Freshman year.

Going into Honors English 9, I had to read Touching Spirit Bear, Greek Mythology, and Great Expectations.

First of all, Charles Dickens (Great Expectations) WAS PAID BY THE WORD. Ughhh. I had to read all three of those books, write a summary sheet on all of them, and then remember them for discussion.

I know what it's like. After finishing with my 3 regents this year, I didn't want to do anything over the summer. That essay I just wrote is pretty poor, lol. It always sucks doing summer work because (1) You don't know the teachers expectations (and 2) You obviously don't care to work during a summer VACATION.

I feel your pain, bro!

Dude, if you think she is hard now, just wait until the school year. This is an "incomplete" book report.

it's not a matter of difficulty, it's a matter of giving us work during the time that we are supposed to get away from school related things

I'm with you there.... People like to relax during the summer. How would the teachers like to work during their vacation?

Hell, if I had any, I wouldn't have gotten it done because I was "away" all summer and "my parents wouldn't let me take it" because I was "on vacation for a reason."

Actually, it wasn't that bad. Plus, it kind of got me prepared for the start of school. Anyways, during the time I chose to do it, the only other thing to do was play video games, and that gets very boring and repetitive.

I must admit now that I'm down to only a vocab list left, I feel much better. I still feel that schoolwork should be during the school year

Yeah, I have work to do yet this summer for AP US History and Honors English. Luckily, I've gotten my book reports for English down so well that I'm not too stressed over it.

I don't want to do the extra work and all that. I'm already a year ahead in mathematics, why go further with other classes?

Oh, only because it furthers your education, challenges you more and looks great on a transcript. Not much of a reason, I guess.

Ironically, most schools abroad going year round are light years ahead of us in education. It's saddening to think about. Sad

Trust me man, take as many honor classes as you can. Anything that counts towards college credit. Hell, you might get a scholarship out of it.

Heed this warning: you'll regret it later if you don't utilize as much free college credit opportunities as you can in high school.
