Many of the early Atari games have shaped the evolution of gameplay. Much credit should also go to the SNES and Sega for their exceptional expansion and development of graphics and depth.

Regarding games, I'd say some of the most significant ones are The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog, Halo (groundbreaking as an FPS), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Super Smash Bros, and Twisted Metal.

I don't know if I agree with this or not. FF7, while in itself is a great game, isn't as revolutionary as everybody thinks. Final Fantasy VI (III in America) for the SNES is, in my opinion, one of the greatest FF games out there. Perhaps the main reason why people haven't played it is because it was for the SNES, but seriously, this game was rich. With all the hype FF7 gets, everybody jumps on the bandwagon and gives it such praise without a second thought to any of the other games in the series. I guess its all a matter of opinion though.

Even today the game still amazes me. Ohh man, fourteen years ago though, I shat brix the first time I played this. Then again, I was only about four years old when this came out so I had no idea what was going on until I got a bit older to understand the game, but still.

If you haven't played this yet, you're missing out on a treat.
