Overlooked Bands Empty Overlooked Bands

Post by Cjanz Mon Aug 10, 2009 4:52 pm

I think the amount of bands that go unnoticed is astonishing, what are some of the bands you promote the most for lack of their own ability to receive attention? Of course, there is the argument that the reason these bands are good is because they haven't been washed over by the public's conformist demands. Either way, share your favorites.

I'll start off with just a short list...

Scar Symmetry - These guys are an AMAZING melodic death metal bands, and they're really taking melodic death into a direction while also sticking to and reviving its roots. Plus, the vocalists growls destroy and his cleans soothe.

Fallujah - I would describe these guys as a deathcore outfit with a heavily influenced black metal persona. Creating melodies similar to those of The Faceless, implementing power and lyrical content only found within black metal, and crushing skulls with breakdowns akin to the deathcore genre. These guys really deserve a little more appreciation.

Netherbird - This symphonic black metal band really delivers, and I don't understand the lack of hype for their stuff. It's really some of the most impressive black metal I've ever heard. They bring more darkness into black metal than a lot of bands out there, and the power behind their music is very driving.

Madness, I struggle to find them anywhere. Saw them 5 weeks ago though, Was awesome finally getting to see some bands. Even bands Ive never seen or heard of before, i still like to investigate to see how well they perform.

I'm not really a rock' n roll kind of guy. Neither is my wife, we only go to concerts that are rated on the net as well.

But its really frustrating to see so many bands not out there!

Yeah but if we're talking this site...not sure The Gathering is a huge breeding ground for big Doom Metal fans lol. I kind of like Doom Metal, it kind of has the weird bluesly kind of feel that I can't really explain.

Kaki King, the instrumentation in her music is quite incredible, I always find myself immersed in the atmosphere of her melodies.

Ben sent me some Kaki King stuff and I really enjoyed it. Tegan and Sara would be another duo in similiar vein that I enjoy.

The White Ghost Shivers

I don't care much for their music itself, but they put on AMAZING performances.
(And their 7'2" banjoist is quite the character.)
