Allowing Immigrants to Enlist

Over our time at the Kansas City Kansas Community College for debate camp, Ben and I debated in favor of this plan once and against it twice.

The gist of the plan is to allow immigrants who wished to enlist in the military to gain citizenship after serving four years. Since this year's debate resolution deals with increased social services for persons living in poverty, it applied because the government would be taking impoverished illegal immigrants and allowing them to join the military and gain all of its benefits.

How does everyone feel about this? What are some of the advantages/disadvantages to doing this? Keep in mind, it's not actually happening, it's just an affirmative plan.

I am on the fence about this seeing how this is all ive heard about it I wouldnt know the terms but I beleive they should have to also take many tests to be aloud to join at first then if admitted they would need to serve the full term and follow all requirements. The way I look at it is you shouldnt be aloud to walk right into the country but you also shouldnt be told you cant even enter for no reason.

I think immagrants should have to take a special test or evalutaion to join so they just dont use our country or military for certain reason but to actually defend our country and be apart of the whole US

Ya the thought of the joining and then going on a killing spree is probably a thing that wouldn't ever let that happen.

yeah. i just wouldnt trust anyone personaly that came from another country to "help us fight"

Ya giving them intel and other resources is just a bad option.

yes it is because they could use it against us.

Exactly it would make it much easy for other countries to attack us.

yeah for real because you would never know if the other country had a mans family and he joined us military to get them back

There certainly isn't a problem with evaluation because that's part of the immigration process anyways. If they want to serve legitimately I don't think there is any reason to prevent that.

yeah. i just want them to have an intense eval. before they can join.

Ya they should be tested multiple times in many different ways and in the same. I just dont believe good things could really come from that.

i mean there might be that rareity but yeah

But ya i just dont see it happening its a good idea in some ways but puts alittle to much trust in there hands.
