The Official Walking Dead Thread
This is the official thread for Walking Dead fans. You can be a fan of the comic books, the movie, or hell even both! This is where we discuss the books and the tv show.
Okay, so what did you think of the 1st season, and what are you expecting for the 2nd season. The first season was only 6 episodes long, which is unfortunate. But the next season will be 13 episodes, but it won't start till next October!!!
And on the comics, what are you guys thinking about the No Way Out storyline? I am gonna pick up this issue when it comes out later this month.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
Easily one of the best shows on T.V. I've been a huge fan of comics for a while now and the show hasn't disappointed me in the least bit. The actors are near perfect, pretty much the characters in the comics personified. Glen especially. The actor playing him looks exactly like him.
The first season was fantastic. Not a weak episode in the season. The only thing I am a little disappointed in is that the series seems to have strayed away from the storyline in the comics, but on the positive side, it keeps me guessing, so its not necessarily a bad thing. The first episode was hands down the best, though. It was pretty much the first 3 issues exactly. I loved it. And the season closer was just as good. The last 20 or 30 minutes specifically. Definitely looking forward to the second season. Too bad we have to wait another year for the second season. Hopefully they'll use all that time to write one hell of a run.
As for the comics, they're really the one comic series I've been keeping up with as of lately. They're some of the most well written comics I've read in a good long while. Rarely do comics get actual physical reactions out of me, but I've like screamed when certain things happen in the books. Amazing writing for sure. Its just a shame that some of the story lines they won't be able to do on the show because of the limits as to what they can actually show.
But yeah, Walking Dead is epic.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
True that, Brad. I can't wait to get into the comics, I am getting the compendium for x-mas from my girlfriend. I also have Book 5, and I am getting Book 6. So I am gonna get the first 72 issues after the holidays, and I am gonna love it.
I have issues 78 and 79, it was kinda hard to see what was all going on since I just jumped into that volume of "Too Far Gone". But those two issues were great for the build up for the No Way Out storyline coming up. The town is in a lot of deep shit due to all the zombies that arrived due to that altercation with the scavengers in #78.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
I am currently in Chapter 8 of the compendium I got on Christmas Eve, and I am really close to the end. I think I am at issue 43? I don't really know because it doesn't say, but I am reading The Governor's flashback on his recovery after Michonne tortured the hell out of him.
The question I ask to comic readers is do you prefer Tony Moore's art or Charlie Adlards?
I think Charlie's fits the comic better, as his art is darker I think.
But the one thing I prefer of Tony's over Charlie is the children. I love Carl Grimes and that is because I grew really big on him on the first 6 issues, Tony's only issues. I love how he drew Carl, as he looked so young, cute, and innocent.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
i just finished issue 80, and it was part 1 of the No Way Out Storyline.
I have to say that I am pumped for this to go down. But what I don't like is that I wish they were in Alexandria Safe Zone for another chapter before this zombie invasion happens. I really enjoyed the beginning of when the group came to the Safe Zone. I haven't read Volume 13 yet, as I will wait for the next hardcover of 13 and 14, but I would enjoy it.
Who do you think will die in this upcoming event as well? I really hope Morgan doesn't, as I have connected with him since the very first issue.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
So - if this is a comic series am I better off watching the show or reading some of the comics first?
Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
Read the first few issues to get a taste for it. After that, you'll appreciate the show so much more.
Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
Yeah, you could read the comics first, but then that would lead you to compare the show to the comics. Which there are some differences between the two, but the show on its own is amazing. Many comic book readers hold the show exactly to the light of the comics, and it ruins the show for them. Frank Darabont and Kirkman made changes to the show on purpose. So it doesn't really matter which one you see first, just make sure you don't be all nazi about the show and try to hold it exactly to the comics, because it will ruin it for you.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
I'll just be an advisory to myself and start with the show. I tend to be too critical of text material vs. graphic material and it sounds like I would enjoy the show a little more. I've never really been into comics, so I'll start there.
Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
But after you see the show, and find that you really like it, you definently should read the comics. Because they just as amazing, if not more.

Re: The Official Walking Dead Thread
This is a show that is on my must-watch list. Right next to Tom Hanks classic Bosom Buddies. lol but in all seriousness it's look really good.

No, but really, you should watch the show first Connor. Because if you read the comic first, you will fall into a trap of unappreciation, lol. If you want to read the comics, I have all up to issue 72 for you to borrow.
