yeah i've been meaning to do this but yeah I don't like PETA at all. I'm apart of a different PETA. I'm part of People Eating Tasty Animals. Yeah anyway they are so stupid like that whole fly thing with obama. yeah that was stupid, its an !@#$ing fly for christ sakes. Also, you know how there are like don't be cruel to animals. Well we are animals as well because technically we're apart of the Kingdom Animalia, thus making us animals in our own way. So by being cruel verbally and physically to another human is in a way animal cruelty. So those few PETA members who don't care what happens to them...

As self awareness dwindles, our minds lay dormant and disintegrate. No longer are we aware of our own hypocrisy, our deviation from the intricacies of our own minds. How much longer can we play the victim? At what point do we assume the position of control and begin to alter our lifestyles and mindsets accordingly? The appropriate time is nigh, but we are not aware. Mankind walks straddling the edge of ultimate demise, and continued throughout this life our minds will eventually fail us. Years ago when I was a new teacher and given to doing crazy things to excite the learners in my classroom, I did a terrible thing and I knew I would have to work hard to get my students to forgive me. I was teaching art to grades one through twelve and each day was a dead run from class to class and from one school to another. I got to see my grade school kids once each week for forty minutes so I had a very short time to capture their interest and keep them excited about art. We do not even know what we do to ourselves with the use of money and dating back to the root of mankind, we set the standard for greed and corruption. We sought rewards for our trouble, an exchange of hands in the form of trading items or precious coins. Personally, I’ve always considered what the world would be like without money, if currency had never once existed. The human being reserves its traits of greed and an almost insatiable hunger for power, but considering the possibilities of a world without currency, would these traits not be so prominent in modern society? We as a people, as a race, are sick. The mass population would rather see fame as opposed to individuality, beauty as opposed to intelligence, and conformity as opposed to original concepts and philosophical expansion. In this state of ailment, I have conjured a manifestation of misanthropy. Why? There has never been a simpler question to answer, in that mankind as we know it has always been corrupt. I would like to think, that in fact, there was a time when our own inventions did not initiate impending doom.

Then, of course, there was currency.

On a recent flight to Boston American airlines detained me for three hours and felt compelled to upgrade me to first class. I had seen the denizens of first class from behind but had never flown, driven, sailed or otherwise lived first class. As I sat in the wider, more comfortable seat, I had no expectations. As the free drinks and “mixed” nuts were offered, I pretended to expect the next thing. I tried to mimic the guy beside me because he seemed used to the treatment. Sitting in a rest area, I suddenly looked around me and realized that in one car I was connected to satellites with two devices and the internet with two more.

There is a fundamental shift that has been taking place for since the days of traveling lap desks used by “connected” travelers in carriages and on clipper ships. These people worked on correspondences to family, friends and business associates as they traveled, optimizing their time. I can imagine that occasionally a fellow traveler thought; “Why would anyone need to be communicating with people who aren’t even here?”

Yesterday as I sat in the park in my little city, I noticed a little bird hopping toward me. At first I thought it was a regular bird that hadn’t seen me because the creature was getting much closer to me that birds normally do. Upon closer inspection, I realized that it was a young bird who’s feathers had not fully formed and that it’s hopping was by necessity. I carefully approached the bird and quickly it’s mother darted at me and lighted on the ground very nearby. We talk about Differentiated Instruction but what does it mean today? In my mind the goal was always to allow for customization of the learning process to meet the needs of learners, in short to put learning in the palm of a kids’ hand.
The powerful invention that ushered in the last Renaissance was the printing press. Suddenly, every person could learn whatever suited them. Knowledge for the first time became readily available and affordable to obtain. You didn’t have to physically visit knowledgeable people to access knowledge. Sound familiar?
